I perhaps owe having become a painter to flowers. - Claude Monet
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for all the things that happen or maybe didn't happen that makes you appreciate your life. I can't say there were any big things in 2012 but more of a slow process of fine tuning life but I am thankful that I am happy, healthy and able to work at being an artist. I am thankful for finding a wonderful husband who makes me laugh so much that sometimes it hurts. I am thankful for a great independent family who spontaneously call me just for fun. 2012 has been a very good, very slow and very quiet year that has brought so much happiness. It's been a year where I have made it a point to experience new things and enjoy new friends. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Barb
Rubber Baby Buggy Bumper - $140
I have been working on two sculptures this week [remember deadline] and I finished them today so now I can breath and find something different to occupy my mind for a few days. The first piece is a wooden and rattan baby buggy that is about 8x8 inches. The baby blanket is hand stitched and quilted and in the buggy is two stuffed bears. The carriage of the buggy is intertwined with 4 different flowers all in a shade of pink - approximately 30-35 glass flowers and 30-40 glass leaves.
The second piece is a replica of a 1905 Hammond Typewriter with the poem Forget Me Not by Mary Ann Brown [early 19th century poet] with little blue forget me not flowers intertwined on the keyboard, part of the poem is wrapped in the carriage of the typewriter and the full poem is on the bottom of the piece.
The baby buggy sat in the studio since I came back from Florida waiting for inspiration and the typewriter I found on Sunday and it just talked to me from beyond. I truely believe that I am out of sync with the universe for my heart seems to constantly reside in the 1800s but since I am still here all I can do is bring back the memories.

Forget Me Not - $110
MILLION MUPPET MARCH
Oh, be still my little heart
never growing with the years
never feeling alone
I keep my friends in children's books
nursery rhymes and songs
dreams of the impossible
my heart still longs
if I could march by your side
if I could hitch a ride
I would sincerely share
and show I care
PBS
is a national treasure
nurtured in the hearts worldwide
march to the beat
never retreat
for Art is the soul
of the endless child!

There are two things that everyone should do during the day - sing and write - even if you can't carry a tune or spell a word you should just fill your soul with both.
